Open Beta Tester Event: Secret World Legends

Well, we’re finally here in many ways. Episode 100 (and for those of you paying attention, the real episode 100 passed months ago but whatever, it’s ceremony.) will be on Secret World Legends the weird reboot of what became my all time favorite MMO. So it’s up to me to start my character anew, and hope the game has a brighter future with the revamp in tow.

So I’m bringing back something I haven’t done in a LONG time. The “Open ‘Beta-Tester’ Event”.  Previously done during ArcheAge and Trove, the Open Beta Tester Event allows anyone who views MMO Grinder the same access to my Patreon Perk known as “Beta Tester”, a $10+ a month tier which grants access to a script so you can watch and even contribute to it in real time.

Now, in order to keep sanity, there are a certain set of rules I ask you to follow if you participate. The script is already under certain precautions, but if you wish to contribute in some way, here’s how to go about doing it.

  1. Keep notes short and concise.
  2. Do not write paragraphs and thoughts on the script itself.
  3. Use the “comment” feature to add thoughts
  4. Do not attempt to change things already added.

If you have read and agree to all of this things, click this link right here to find access to the script. Please join us in Discord to discuss things live as we go over the game, and of course, make sure to stop by the stream.

Keep in mind that partaking in the event doesn’t guarantee you a spot in any grinding group with us directly. Form your own groups and opinions as you play, and all will be considered when we start organizing our thoughts together. Otherwise, join the Discord, log into the game, join the guild and have fun. (Or don’t, and have fun complaining about it!)

Sidequest: Hide and Shriek

Chaos Reviews: The Park

While this clearly ISN’T an MMO, the tie in with The Secret World will likely hold some interest here, so up it goes. If you had any interest in “The Park” now’s the time to see if it’s something you’d want to play for yourself.

Backtrack: The Secret World (February 2013)

Original review: Halloween 2012

Off-Week Update (01-19-2013)

OWU three days before the next episode deadline? When have I ever made sense.

Major apologies for the lack of content, as despite many things being in the works, nothing’s been executed on account of me (expectedly) getting sick after MAGfest. Never fails. Blame winter, or something.

So the Year-In-Review got WAAAY more of a response than I thought it would. Subjective things will do that, hence why I try to avoid is as best I can.

I wanted to have a lot more things up before the next episode but instead…. I put up this stupid background… that’s something, I guess.

I have one, possibly two games I’d like to look at for Sidequest, and I’m REALLY debating on bothering with one of them. I can only see a shitstorm on the horizon for even thinking about the game, so perhaps I best sticking with my original plan of ignoring nearly all games of its type.. We shall see.

In the pipe and abandoned temporarily are two Backtracks, both scripts finished, one on World of Tanks (which JUST got another major update, so thankful I did procrastinate) and the other on (oh god Jon would you shut up about) The Secret World (already).

Since my parenthesis are not in agreement with this decision, no I will NOT shut up about the Secret World. In fact let me add some quick info and possibly a “super-post” of sorts later on if people feel I should.

If you wish to find me in The Secret World, find me on the following characters and cabals. Remember the server you play on DOES NOT MATTER. Just add me to your friends list and you can contact me when I log on.

Illuminati:
Character: ChaosD1
Cabal: Novus Ordo Marganars

Templar:
Character: Azure-Maiden
Cabal: In Marganars We Trust (I’m tempted to change this to “Trust in Marganars” before anyone joins it. Thoughts?)

Dragon:
Character: T-GIF
Cabal: The Marganars Effect

I do NOT mind people finding me or asking me questions in game, just as long as you understand it’s quite possible I might not be able to answer them right away, especially if I’m in a dungeon, or I just neglect to see the tell.

I’m also still running my very unscheduled streams over at twitch.tv/chaosd1 so make sure to check there and on my twitter for when I decided to run games on there. It might be the next episode I’m working on, it might be The Secret World, and it might not be an MMO at all. Also if you wish to monetarily support me in such endeavors (I don’t demand this, but I do often have people ask me.) there is a “Chip-In” widget on my stream page if you feel so inclined/hate money. Otherwise, just stop by and ridicule me like everyone else seems to be doing.

Also the next episode is DDO. So there’s that.

“In Name Only”: A personal philosophy on the developer/publisher relationship.

If you think I’m doing this to discuss SWTOR, let’s let that one stew for a bit more. Right now feedback is related to restriction shock, and my voice acting comment. Again, I’ll give it a while before discussing it.

No, today, I’m talking about a line that was either ignored, or baffled many a viewer when I stated it in my Special Episodes: Guild Wars 2, and The Secret World.

Why would I place so much emphasis on saying that GW2 was published “in name only” by NCSoft, and TSW published “in name only” by EA?

Because people HATE NCSoft. And people HATE EA… and the worst part, they’re completely unwilling to separate a game from its publisher, even when said publisher has little to no creative control over the product.
